According to the latest report from Javi Miguel, a reporter following Barcelona for AS, Ajax will cover a portion of Ter Stegen's salary, with the rest covered by Barcelona.

Reportedly, Barcelona and Ajax are making good progress in negotiations for a one-year loan deal for Ter Stegen. Currently, the only obstacle to the finalization of the deal is his physical condition. He is expected to travel to the Dutch capital in the coming days for a comprehensive medical examination to check on injuries to his left leg and right knee.

In early February this year, he underwent surgery for a severe hamstring injury. If the player passes the medical examination, his transfer to Ajax next season will finally be approved. This signing is largely due to the new Ajax coach, Michel, who insisted on signing Ter Stegen and eventually convinced Ajax sporting director Jordi Cruyff.

In addition to the medical examination, there are also some "complications" regarding the proportion of salary payment: Ter Stegen is one of the highest-paid players at Barcelona, so Ajax will only bear a portion of his salary, with the rest covered by Barcelona. In any case, Ter Stegen's departure is good news for Barcelona in terms of further reducing wage expenditure and resolving the surplus goalkeeper issue that existed a few weeks ago.

If Ter Stegen's departure is confirmed, he has one year left on his contract with Barcelona: his contract expires on June 30, 2028, at which point he will be 36 years old, ending his career in Barcelona. His Barcelona career began brilliantly, as he helped the team win the treble in the 2014-15 season and became an undisputed star in the Champions League.
