According to Bild, Dortmund is applying for special permission for new summer signing Kauã Santos (17) to allow him to join team training early.

Santos will not turn 18 until December 8, and under FIFA regulations, he cannot officially complete his transfer until that date, nor can he take part in Dortmund training during this period.

According to Bild, Dortmund plan to submit an exemption request to FIFA through the German Football League. The club hope that Santos can join his new teammates on the training ground on July 14, when coach Niko Kovač gathers the team to begin preparations.

This is important for Dortmund. The club hopes the left-back will integrate into the team's operations from day one, quickly familiarize himself with Kovač's tactical ideas, and avoid wasting valuable time.

The 17-year-old is regarded as one of Brazil's most promising defenders. Dortmund signed him from Cruzeiro for approximately 12 million euros and secured him on a contract until 2031. Santos won the South American Championship with Brazil's U17 team and made his professional debut at the age of 16. Dortmund is now awaiting FIFA's approval. If the special permit is granted, Santos will be able to train with his teammates almost a month before his official transfer takes effect. Santos will not be moving to Dortmund alone. In an interview with Bild in February, he said: "I will go with my family – they are the most important people to me and have been involved throughout the process. This will make it easier for me to adapt. I know the fans will support me, but it's also important to stay close to my family and the team so that everything goes as smoothly as possible."
