England player Morgan Rogers spoke to reporters on the training ground ahead of the FIFA World Cup Round of 16 match against Mexico.

You understand the significance of this match and the weight of playing at this stadium, challenging the host team at the Azteca Stadium in Mexico. This is an opportunity to advance to the FIFA World Cup quarterfinals. Considering all factors, what are your expectations? Is this the most important match of your career so far?

Yes, quite possibly. I'm looking forward to an incredible atmosphere, and I expect this to be a memorable moment. I think the build-up before the match, everything surrounding it, and the different obstacles we need to overcome all add to the adrenaline and excitement for our entire team. The thought of having the chance to reach the FIFA World Cup quarterfinals, and the extra significance this has for us as players, makes this a great moment, and we should be excited and full of anticipation. Of course, we know the difficulties, how well they play, and the atmosphere, etc., but we just need to focus on ourselves. We know that if we play at our best, we can beat almost any opponent. So that's everyone's mindset and the message, and yes, we're very much looking forward to it.

Morgan, it seems the kickoff time might change, with the match being brought forward. How does this affect you? Is this another issue you need to overcome?

I wouldn’t call it an issue, and I don’t think it will really affect us. Whatever the time, we will be ready. An earlier kickoff might be better because you just want to get on with the game. I think if we keep thinking about what might happen, we might as well just start the game. Pre-match preparation is always like this; you always want to get straight onto the field. So, if the kickoff is earlier, it might help us release that adrenaline on the pitch and start the game immediately. No matter what time it is, we are looking forward to it and will be ready.

Morgan, are you satisfied with the playing opportunities you have had so far? Has the coach set any further requirements for your next appearance?

I’m satisfied with these two substitute appearances. In the match against Panama, I probably wanted to make a bigger impact from the start, but I think I did well in certain moments. Still, yes, I could have had a greater impact on the game. Sometimes matches are tough and require different approaches, which are not always suited to me. Yes, the key is how I adapt, how I improve, and how I influence the game in a better way. Whatever task I’m assigned, whatever they want me to do, regardless of the position or playing style, I will be ready to show my abilities and what I can do on this stage.

Morgan, you've seen the impact. What is the significance of having a teammate like Kane and of being a legend for the England team?

First of all, without him, we would be home by now. He is the best striker in the world, and I cannot say enough about him. He has been at that level for years, performing excellently time and again on the biggest stages. We will need him again and again, which is why he is our captain and our leader, because he leads by example. He does the right thing every day. For all England players, whether you play alongside him or not, he is an inspiration. He is someone you should look up to and emulate, learning how he prepares for these big moments, how he adjusts himself, and how he always delivers, which is not surprising.

Morgan, in such a big game, how do you stay focused and relaxed at the same time?

Remember why you're here. I think all of us are here because we love football, and that's the most important thing. You want to play in games like this, in this atmosphere and environment. As a team, we have all worked incredibly hard to get to this point, and we can't let it slip away easily. I think sometimes you can feel too much pressure because you want to perform well, but the most important thing is always to enjoy it. If you enjoy the game, you'll always play at your best, and you'll be more invested in it. That's what we're going to do. We're going to enjoy this moment, enjoy everything that comes with it, including adversity and everything that goes against us, and turn it to our advantage.

Morgan, is this the first time at a FIFA World Cup, or perhaps in any match for England, that the team has been considered the underdog, given all the environmental factors surrounding the game and not just team strength?

Yes, perhaps. Considering how they play, their current form, and their performances at home, you could say that. But I don't think it matters too much. Any team can beat any opponent on their day, and people have seen that in different competitions over the years. So perhaps we can cast aside the underdog mentality and see how that helps us.

Let's talk about Kane, or rather, whether this is simply the inevitable consequence of having the world's best striker in the team.

I think if anyone has Harry in their team, they will rely on him. Other players also want to get involved and help. But if he scores so many goals, and everyone else plays around him, I don't see any problem with that. He is our goalscorer; his job is to score goals, and he does what he needs to do at an extremely high level. The word "rely" might not be entirely accurate, but other players, including myself, obviously also want to share the burden and help because we can't always expect him to pull us out of trouble or difficult situations. However, any team with Harry would want to rely on him, and we certainly do.

This FIFA World Cup has taken you to many different settings and stadiums. Tuchel has spoken about the beautiful venue and new stadium in Atlanta. But now you are going to Mexico City, where Maradona won the FIFA World Cup and Pelé also won the FIFA World Cup. How does it feel to experience these different histories?

It means a lot. Especially for a player like me, who hasn't played many games for England, experiencing different environments and places, and playing against different teams in a FIFA World Cup, feels very different. With the matches spread across three different countries, across America, with different weather conditions, different stadiums, and not even all of them dedicated football stadiums, I think all of this adds to my experience as a young player. I will try to absorb these experiences and turn them into an advantage later in my career. So, I'm enjoying the experiences and what I'm learning along the way, and it's really great.

You mentioned the atmosphere in Mexico, but there is now a lot of talk about Mexican fans making noise outside the England team hotel. Is this a concern for you? What do you think of this form of support?

I'm not concerned at the moment, but honestly, if it wakes me up, I definitely won't be happy. We'll see what happens and do our best to deal with it. It's just another obstacle to overcome, another step to get through. But we're ready. We've heard about it, and we'll be as prepared as possible to make sure we get enough sleep and recovery for the match.

Do you have earplugs?

No, but yes, I might need to go and buy some.
