German football legend Hamann stated on the "TOMorrow Business" podcast that after the German national team's repeated World Cup failure, Kimmich should seriously consider ending his national team career.

Hamann believes that Kimmich has had enough opportunities to lead the national team but has consistently failed to guide Germany to a breakthrough in major tournaments.

Hamann said: "He has participated in five major tournaments as a core player, but has failed all five times. He has never led the team past the quarterfinals of a World Cup or European Championship, yet he stands up and says he won't shirk responsibility."

"It's not about shirking or not shirking; it's about taking responsibility, and about having self-awareness. I hope such a player would take responsibility and say: 'I've done everything I could—no one can deny that—but I haven't succeeded, so now I choose to leave.' I expect him to do that."

Regarding Kimmich's individual ability, Hamann bluntly stated: "I don't consider Kimmich a world-class player. He's a very good player, but not among the world's best in midfield. As for right-back? Not world-class either; in that position, he's also just a good player."

Hamann even further questioned the role of German players in Bayern Munich's success: "The German players at Bayern Munich are just supporting cast; the ones who truly decide games are Olise, Luis Díaz, and Kane. Kimmich, Pavlovic, and Kimmich only play a supporting role. They've performed well this season, and better than most players, but others are the ones who truly decide the outcome of matches."

Finally, Hamann directly stated that he hopes Kimmich will retire from the national team, as this would be an important signal for the German team to initiate change.

"I hope things turn out this way. This would be a signal that the German team must change; we cannot continue like this."
