After the official announcement of his move to Tottenham, Tonali gave his first official club interview as a Tottenham player.

On joining Tottenham:
I woke up this morning at 6 am as a Tottenham player. When we arrived here this morning, it felt incredible, just like when I was sixteen or seventeen playing my first game. It was a very similar feeling. I feel like a child, full of energy. I think these are very positive things, especially for football, and especially because I am 26 now, not 18.
I decided to sign with Tottenham; I didn't need two, three, or four teams to choose from. I already know which team I'll be playing for next season, and I can't wait to start the new campaign and play the first match.
On the transfer and De Zerbi:
Every time you change teams, you have to start all over again. You have to rebuild relationships with teammates, staff, and especially the fans. I'm a bit lucky because when you know the coaching staff, things become easier, especially at the start of the season and during the summer.
He's an incredible coach, and I've known him for a long time. He's from Brescia, and I played in Brescia for 10 years. Sometimes we would meet there when we had a day or two off. I think it's fantastic. The first time I spoke to him, we talked like friends, as if we were already in a player-coach relationship. That conversation was almost magical because, at that moment, I thought, okay, now I'm definitely going to play for you. We talked a lot about Tottenham, the stadium, the fans, the players, and our football.
On himself:
If I had to describe myself in one sentence, I would say I give a lot for my teammates. I play as a number 6 and work closely with the defense. Our second game is against Newcastle, and I really can't wait to play. I can't wait to play at Tottenham Stadium because I've faced Tottenham a few times in the Champions League with Milan and also with Newcastle.
On the Tottenham Stadium:
I feel a great atmosphere here; it is always packed, which is not easy because the stadium is so big. The fans can change the game in two minutes. If the fans are with you, it becomes easier. So I think the fans are one of the best elements of this stadium. I know this stadium is one of the best in the world. The fans are crazy, and we need that craziness because we need 100% energy, focus, and everything on the field at all times.
We want to win every game, especially at home, and we know we can do it.
