According to French media outlet "Onze Mondial", after O'Neil left to join Ipswich, Strasbourg are accelerating the process of finding a new head coach, and Wilfried Nancy has emerged as one of the most likely candidates to take over the team.

BlueCo, the group that owns Strasbourg, also owns Chelsea. The report states that the club's management has narrowed the shortlist to a few candidates, including 49-year-old Nancy.
Nancy coached Celtic from December 2025 to January 2026 but failed to win any of the 8 matches he managed. After leaving Celtic, he has been unemployed and has reportedly held talks with Strasbourg.
Previously, Lorient had also contacted Nancy in the hope that he would replace Olivier Pantaloni as head coach.
Strasbourg's initial target was former Brentford and Tottenham coach Thomas Frank, but negotiations between the two sides have stalled for several days. As a result, Nancy is currently the frontrunner in Strasbourg's coaching search.
