According to Brazilian media outlet diariosm, despite Brazil's elimination in the round of 16 at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, head coach Ancelotti is expected to continue leading the team until the 2030 FIFA World Cup.

Brazil's 2-1 loss to Norway in the 2026 FIFA World Cup Round of 16, which resulted in an early exit, raised questions about Ancelotti's future. However, the Italian coach is more likely to stay.
As early as May 14th this year, before the FIFA World Cup began, the Brazilian Football Confederation had already announced a contract extension with Ancelotti until the 2030 FIFA World Cup. Ancelotti, who took office in May 2025, will continue to lead the team through the entire cycle, up to the Spain-Portugal-Morocco FIFA World Cup.
Under the new contract, Ancelotti's annual salary is approximately 10 million euros (about 63.4 million Brazilian reals), making him the highest-paid national team coach in the world.
Despite his disappointment over the early elimination, Ancelotti said he does not view this as the end of his work.
During his tenure with the Brazilian team, Ancelotti coached 17 matches, recording 10 wins, 3 draws, and 4 losses.
Although Ancelotti will remain, changes are expected within the coaching staff. Chief assistant coach Davide Ancelotti, Ancelotti's son, will leave the team to become head coach of Lille in Ligue 1. Another potential departure is goalkeeping coach Taffarel, as there has been internal criticism regarding his progress in bringing through a new generation in that position. The future of national team coordinator Rodrigo Caetano is also uncertain, although he has already begun planning for the next cycle.
The new cycle will begin in September, with Brazil playing two friendly matches against Australia on September 25 and September 29.
