TODAY... Ronaldo has not stopped in his egocentric barrage, blaming everyone but himself when things go wrong and according all tributes to himself alone when things go right. Ronaldo suggests that before him, PORTUGAL were not a great footballing nation because they had won nothing. A nation that produced Eusebio, Figo and Pepe. His statements suggests HE made it all happen. He individualises himself in an 11-man team effort; an 11-man that he almost contributes the LEAST. He (Ronaldo), has NEVER won the MVP in any tournament he contested for Portugal. His statement berates his teammates and belittles their efforts, hence, their unwillingness to play their hearts out for such an egocentric, selfish, attention seeking, individualistic player. We've seen Bruno run his lungs out for the worst struggling Manchester United side in years winning EPL player of the season despite finishing third. We've seen Joao Neves, Mendes and Vitinha win Champions League back to back. These guys are good. Just do not think it is worth it playing their hearts out for someone who constantly clowns Eder, the scorer of the winning decider for the singular Euros Portugal has ever won, because Captain selfish keeps clowning his teammates' effort. This same man has berated Real Madrid players after a loss to Atletico Madrid suggesting that if his team mates were on the same level with him, they wouldn't be struggling. More often than not, this guy, who is a good footballer by the way, (very good goal scorer/poacher kind of player), keeps making football seem like a game of tennis that is determined by a single individual. His fans have suggested to put Ronaldo and ten logs of woods and he would still deliver. I wonder why his team mates are being blamed now. Finally, after all said and done, as far as football is concerned, comparing Ronaldo to Messi is nothing short of disrespectful. It is like comparing a man who scored 90 in Maths (Goalscoring) to a guy who scored 85 while averaging 85 in other subjects; (Passes, dribbling, creation, team work, assists, game reading, movement across the entire pitch; NOT IN THE BOX etc), whereas the 90 maths guy failed other subjects woefully. In the end, Ronaldo keeps making himself a very unlikeable person with his despicable character which is why many of his ex teammates usually have nothing good to say about him and are all celebrating the greatness of Messi, like Kroos' status, Bale and Rooney's interview etc. In the contrary, a leader, with humility so much it irks his fans sometimes, has won several MVPs across several tournements including the ones he didn't win. From youth to elderly, he has constantly competed and been the best across his teamates spanning 2 decades. YET, he never talks much about himself. Never eulogises himself above his team mates. Always speaks about his team mates and colleagues with so much admiration and respect. Sings their praises and constantly appreciate them for their efforts. Beyond his undebateable footballing abilities, this man for no reason has been disrespected publicly by some noteable Ronaldo fans; Piers Morgan and iShowspeed, for NO REASON AT ALL. He has neither responded nor reacted. Has been labled and accused of several unprovaeble scandals; from world cup rigging to favourtism. And there's the other guy accusing people who looks at him in a funny way 'an Argentine', attacking journalists who are only trying to do their job and all. Lack of class, professionalism and character. CAN NEVER BE MY GOAT! This is not a popularity contest, of 6 feet and 6packs, because, clearly, the pleasing aesthetic is why very many of his female fans are attracted, and yes, women run the world, so they drag their men alongside. In any case, beyond stats, the eye test tells the story even better. There’s no honest football lover and fan who’s watched this two and genuinely think Ronaldo laces Messi’s boot by any criteria. None! Must be brain rot or pure dishonesty that births such self delusion.
