A new version of the match ball is reportedly set to be used at the 2026 FIFA World Cup from the semi-finals onwards. The technical specifications will remain unchanged, but the design and color scheme will be adjusted.

As with the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, the match balls for the final four matches of the FIFA World Cup will feature a different design and color scheme.

This match ball will retain the same technical performance, but its pattern and color scheme will change. The new ball will feature a black base with a gold coating symbolizing the FIFA World Cup trophy, with red and pink details added.

The names of the cities hosting the final stages of the event—Dallas, Atlanta, Miami, and New York, New Jersey—will be printed on the ball panels. The names of the other host cities will appear in the triangular patterns across the ball's surface.

This match ball will continue to use Connected Ball Technology to collect real-time data for referees. The system works with semi-automated offside technology to detect touches more accurately.

This is not the first time the FIFA World Cup has changed match balls in the decisive stages. The 2022 FIFA World Cup also changed balls from the semi-finals onward. The 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa, and 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany changed balls only for the final match. FIFA World Cups up to and including 2002 never did this.
