According to Sport, the hosting arrangements for the 2030 FIFA World Cup remain uncertain, with the battle for the final venue once again sparking debate. Barcelona or Madrid are frontrunners, and Morocco has not been completely ruled out.

In addition to the final venue, the decision to name Argentina, Uruguay, and Paraguay as hosts for three group stage matches has also drawn considerable criticism. The biggest question at the time was whether this meant these three teams would directly qualify without needing to participate in their continental qualifiers. Now, with a key figure spearheading the effort to bring three FIFA World Cup matches across the Atlantic having made a statement, this question appears to have been clarified.
Although there has been uncertainty about whether CONMEBOL would adopt a new qualification format, or if the three host teams would still participate despite already being qualified for the FIFA World Cup, Robert Harrison, president of the Paraguayan Football Association, provided an answer during a live call with Luis Valero on the show "Va con onda": "We will all participate in the qualifiers. We have already qualified, but we will compete with European teams for a ranking in a future competition."
This rules out the possibility that Argentina, Paraguay, and Uruguay will only play friendly matches during most international breaks over the next four years. These three teams, like the other seven CONMEBOL teams, will all participate in the qualifiers. However, Harrison mentioned a new competition involving European teams, and some key details have not yet been announced.
Previously, there were speculations that South American teams would participate in the UEFA Nations League. Now, this idea might become a reality: the top two or top four teams from the CONMEBOL FIFA World Cup qualifiers might enter a certain stage of the UEFA Nations League. However, until official confirmation, these remain mere speculations.
