Former England captain John Terry compared Bellingham to Zidane but warned England must contain Norway's key players to advance.

Bellingham scored twice as England sensationally beat Mexico 3-2 at the Azteca Stadium. Terry said he saw Zidane's shadow in the 23-year-old midfielder. On Piers Morgan's show, Terry was full of praise: "You saw Bellingham last night, I compare him to Zidane, maybe a bit bold, but look at that game, what he did was incredible. His two goals were icing on the cake, and Harry Kane's pass for his second goal was also fantastic."

Although Bellingham dominated the headlines, Terry believes that the core of this England team is the key to their true championship potential. He specifically highlighted a group of players who led the team to the quarterfinals. Terry said: "They can't get injured, they have to be the core of our success. Without these people pushing the team, maintaining standards... there are leaders in the team. Kane, we've seen it in his career; Bellingham is doing it so young; and Rice, and I include Reece James."

Despite the thrilling victory over Mexico, England now faces a tough quarter-final against Norway. Terry firmly believes that the key to winning is to contain Arsenal captain Ødegaard, whom he considers the midfield maestro of the Norwegian team. The midfielder played a crucial role in Norway's upset victory over Brazil. Terry warned Tuchel's team: "Listen, Norway is a strong team. They are well-drilled. I think everything in their team runs through Ødegaard. If England can limit him and Haaland, then we have a great chance."

Containing Ødegaard is only half the battle, as Haaland continues to wreak havoc on defenses, scoring seven goals in four games, tying with Messi and Mbappé at the top of the scoring charts. As a defensive master, Terry offered stern advice to Guéhi and Konsa on how to deal with the Manchester City striker, using Gabriel's mistakes as a lesson. Regarding tactical arrangements, Terry said: "It's difficult because he can easily run in behind you. He's very strong and fast, so you have to be vigilant at all times. Who else do they have in the box? One or two others, but nowhere near as threatening as Haaland. So whoever is marking Haaland in the box, stick tight to him, focus completely, be very selfish in isolating him from the game, because at any moment... Harry Kane would do this, all top strikers would, and Haaland might do it better than anyone."
