Sporting CP have announced the loan signing of Chelsea talent Jesse Derry.

The 19-year-old will spend the 2026-27 season with the Portuguese side, who finished second in the Primeira Liga last term and reached the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

Derry, who recently signed a new long-term deal with the Blues, impressed for Chelsea's under-21 side after joining from Crystal Palace last year, earning two FA Cup appearances and one Premier League outing.

The winger only played in the first half against Nottingham Forest in the league before suffering a head injury, but still made a strong impact.

Derry (18 years and 308 days) became the third-youngest Chelsea player to win a penalty in the Premier League after Robert Huth (18y 41d) and Estevao (18y 250d).

"It's an incredible feeling. I'm really looking forward to getting on the pitch and playing in front of all the fans. I can't wait to get started," Derry told the Sporting media.

"When I think of Sporting CP, I think of players who excite the fans and young players. Coming here was a very easy decision.

"It means everything. I know how much this club represents to Sporting fans, and I am prepared to always give my best.

"I know that Sporting CP creates different players who are capable of expressing themselves on the field. I feel that this will be the perfect place for me."
