Brugge officially announced the signing of 37-year-old Swiss goalkeeper Sommer on a 3-year contract.

Sommer has signed with the club until 2029, joining as a free agent after three seasons with Inter. He received his youth training in Switzerland and rose to prominence at Basel before playing for clubs including Vaduz, Borussia Mönchengladbach, Bayern, and Inter.
In 2023, he transferred from Bayern to Inter, making 139 appearances for the Nerazzurri across three seasons. He also has extensive European experience, having played 69 Champions League matches and 38 Europa League matches for the team.
He has made more than 790 career appearances to date. During his time at Basel, Sommer won the Swiss League championship four times and the Swiss Cup twice. At Mönchengladbach, he was named Swiss Player of the Year three times.
While at Bayern, he won the Bundesliga. During his time at Inter, he won the Bundesliga twice, the German Cup once, and the German Supercup.
On the international stage, Sommer has represented the Swiss national team for many years, making his debut in 2012 and playing in a total of 94 international matches.
