According to "Mundo Deportivo", Barcelona have not ruled out the possibility of signing another center-back, but only if Araujo leaves.

Although Flick was already seen at Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper last Thursday, it is reported that he officially began training for the new season only yesterday. Meanwhile, his players have also started to resume training, with the exception of international players, of course.

After winning two La Liga titles, two Spanish Super Cups, and one Copa del Rey, Flick has set his sights on the Champions League, a trophy Barcelona hasn't won in 11 years, since their last victory against Juventus in 2015.

To achieve this goal, Flick reached an agreement with Laporta and sporting director Deco, working with them to sign several players to strengthen the squad and enable the team to compete for all honors, especially the Champions League.

So far, Barcelona have signed Gordon, and Adeyemi is also close to joining. Last Friday, Barcelona reached a verbal agreement with Dortmund for Adeyemi's transfer for 22 million euros, plus 7 million euros in add-ons.

Barcelona already has two versatile wingers, as well as the young rising star Bissouma. Barcelona hopes to remain active in the transfer market by signing Alvarez, whom Flick believes is an indispensable addition to the team's attack after Lewandowski's departure.

Although Alvarez's goal-scoring ability is not as strong as Lewandowski's, Flick firmly believes that, with Alvarez's link-up play near the box and the support of his current Barcelona teammates, his goal tally will improve compared to his time at Atletico Madrid.

Atletico Madrid will not let him go easily and insists it will not sell him, but Barcelona believes Alvarez's determination to wear the Barcelona jersey could be key to facilitating the deal. Signing him would be the most important piece of the puzzle in strengthening the squad, but not the only one.

In addition to Alvarez, another clear request from Flick is for Cancelo to stay. He highly values Cancelo's versatility, professionalism, and attacking ability. While waiting for the club to finalize the agreement, Flick appears to have secured another key player for the team.

Following these signings, the possibility of Barcelona signing another center-back has not been ruled out. If a new center-back is signed, someone from the current squad must leave. Cubarsi, Gerard Martín, and Eric Garcia are considered untouchable.

Christensen has just renewed his contract with Barcelona for two years. Although Araujo has no intention of leaving Barcelona, he was among the players with the least playing time at the end of last season. If this trend continues, it remains to be seen whether Araujo will maintain his firm intention to stay.

However, Barcelona will only activate their plan to strengthen the center-back position if Araujo leaves. They have previously scouted players in this position in case the need arises.
