According to talkSPORT, the president of the Senegalese Football Federation has questioned the qualifications of the national team's doctor, stating that players had expressed concerns.

The president of the Senegalese Football Federation has accused their FIFA World Cup team doctor of actually being a gynecologist, not a physiotherapist.

Reportedly, this issue was discovered during this summer's FIFA World Cup, leading to concerns from Senegalese players.

Abdourahmane Fedior has served as Senegal's team doctor since 2017.

During this period, he has accompanied the team to three FIFA World Cups and five Africa Cup of Nations tournaments.

However, Abdoulaye Fall, president of the Senegalese Football Federation, spoke to reporters about their concerns at a press conference on Monday.

He claimed that Fedior was trained as a gynecologist, which prompted the federation to seek additional medical professionals during the FIFA World Cup.

Fall stated via Reuters: "Based on the feedback I received, the players didn't feel comfortable enough with his support."

He added: "We had to find convincing professional support to reassure them, because health is above all else."

However, the Senegalese Association of Sports Medicine strongly denied these allegations.

In response, the association called Fall's remarks "unfounded and defamatory."

Fedior reportedly holds a diploma in sports medicine and sports biology from Cheikh Anta Diop University in Dakar.

Before taking up relevant positions with the Senegalese national team, he was also in charge of the physiotherapy department at Fann Hospital in the capital.

The first FIFA World Cup Senegal participated in with Fedior as team doctor was the 2018 FIFA World Cup, where the team was eliminated in the group stage.

Four years later, at the Qatar FIFA World Cup, Senegal reached the round of 16.

Meanwhile, in the five Africa Cup of Nations finals he participated in, Senegal reached the knockout stage every time.

Among these, Senegal won its first Africa Cup of Nations title in 2021 and reached the final twice in 2019 and 2025.

However, this summer's FIFA World Cup journey ended in disappointment, as Senegal was eliminated by Belgium in the round of 32.

After losing 2-3 in extra time, coach Thiaw was subsequently sacked.

Senegal was still leading 2-0 with less than 5 minutes remaining in the match, but Belgium scored two goals within 3 minutes to force extra time.

In the final stages of extra time, Tielemans converted a penalty in the 125th minute, helping Belgium dramatically defeat Senegal.
