According to Bild, German referee Felix Zwayer's FIFA World Cup journey has ended prematurely. After officiating two group stage matches, he has already left the referee base in the USA and will not officiate any more matches on the final weekend. The German Football Association has also confirmed this news.

Zwayer officiated the host nation USA's 2-0 victory over Australia and the Democratic Republic of Congo's 3-1 win against Uzbekistan at this FIFA World Cup. The German referee performed well in both matches, but he also attracted attention in his Seattle debut due to a cramp during stoppage time. He collapsed, and medical personnel immediately rushed onto the field to assist him. Zwayer ultimately finished the match.

46-year-old Bastian Dankert has not yet left; as a video assistant referee, he still has a chance to officiate in Sunday's FIFA World Cup final.

In Tuesday's semi-final between Spain and France in Arlington, Dallas, the head referee was Salvadoran Iván Barton. He went viral online, with millions of views, for a "hand over mouth" judgment announcement and red card, and his phrase "The decision is: red card!" was even turned into an electronic dance music hit. American referee Ismail Elfath will officiate the other semi-final between England and Argentina in Atlanta on Wednesday.

According to consistent reports from multiple media outlets, 13 referees remain at the FIFA base. If Argentina reaches the final, European and South American referees will be excluded, and Australian referee Alireza Faghani will be the top candidate.

If the final is a showdown between two European teams, Slovenian referee Slavko Vinčić or Polish referee Szymon Marciniak are also among the candidates.
