According to Bild, Benfica wants to sign Palhinha but cannot afford his €25 million transfer fee.

Palhinha's basic annual salary at Bayern Munich is reportedly around €8.5 million. Even if he were to give up a significant portion of his salary, Benfica might not be able to afford the total transfer fee of €25 million. To facilitate an agreement, he might need to drastically reduce his salary demands in the upcoming negotiations.

Benfica is also considering a loan deal with an option to buy, or even a mandatory purchase clause if necessary. However, it remains to be seen whether Bayern Munich would accept such a deal. One thing is clear, though: Eberl is desperate to sell Palhinha, as the player has no future under Kompany.

Marco Silva is believed to be the main driving force behind Benfica's pursuit of Palhinha. He worked with Palhinha during his time as Fulham manager from 2022 to 2024 and is a strong supporter of his. Benfica is facing financial difficulties, and it is unclear if this deal can be completed.
