19-year-old winger Dujuan Richards has signed a new contract with Chelsea, which will run until at least 2032. Following the extension, Richards will join Sporting CP on loan for the 2026/27 season. Speaking to the club channel, Dujuan Richards discussed the decision.

Richards joined Chelsea last summer from Crystal Palace and had an excellent first season after arriving in West London. He not only helped the Chelsea U21 team finish top of the Premier League 2 table but also made his senior team debut.

Last season, Richards first made his first-team debut in the FA Cup 4-0 victory over Hull City, and then came on as a substitute in the same competition. Later, he made his first Chelsea first-team start at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League against Nottingham Forest.

After the extension, Richards said: "It's obviously a dream come true for me to commit my future to a big club like Chelsea."

"You don't even think about these things beforehand, but when it actually happens, it's the best feeling. Now, I'm very excited about everything that comes next."

Richards also said: "The club has a big plan, everyone wants to win championships again, and I hope to be a part of that in the future."

"Having had a little taste of first-team football, I can't think of anywhere better for my future than here. So, it was a very simple decision."
