According to renowned journalist Simon Stone, despite Manchester United having signed Andrey Santos and Tielemans being on the verge of joining, the club is still looking for another midfielder in the transfer market.

Santos joined Manchester United from Chelsea on Monday for £48 million. Tielemans, the 29-year-old Belgian midfielder, is set to undergo a medical at Manchester United before completing his transfer from Aston Villa.

The reporter learned that there is a £35 million release clause in Tielemans' contract, but this has not yet been confirmed by both clubs.

These two signings will somewhat alleviate the concerns of Manchester United fans. Previously, fans were dissatisfied due to the club's lack of transfer activity and the collapse of the £35 million deal to sign Brazilian midfielder Éderson from Atalanta. However, these new additions still cannot fully address the shortcomings in Carrick's squad.

After last season, Casemiro's departure left Carrick without a natural number 6 midfielder. Manchester United still hopes to strengthen this position further, bringing in at least one more midfielder.

Santos can play in this position, but he is only 22 years old and has only 13 Premier League starts, so he still lacks experience.

Although Tielemans can also play in a deeper midfield role, he is generally considered more of a number 8. After Amorim's departure, Carrick reintroduced Mainoo to the starting lineup in January, and Mainoo took on this role.

Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes said on "The Good, The Bad and The Football" podcast: "I don't see Tielemans and Mainoo playing together."

He added: "They probably need another two players in that position."
