According to Portuguese media "A Bola", after France's elimination from the FIFA World Cup semi-finals, over 160 people were arrested in Paris and Lyon.

After France's 0-2 loss to Spain and elimination from the 2026 FIFA World Cup semi-finals, clashes broke out in Paris and Lyon, leading to over 150 arrests, most of which were related to the use of pyrotechnic devices against authorities.
In the Paris region, on Wednesday morning local time, police announced in a statement to BFMTV that authorities had arrested 141 people. Most of these arrests were related to throwing fireworks at security forces and emergency services personnel. Despite the clashes, no serious injuries were reported.
A similar situation occurred in Lyon, where hundreds of people gathered in Place Bellecour to watch the match. After the final whistle, several groups of young people threw objects at the police. Following police intervention, about 20 people were arrested.
The French team had hoped to reach the FIFA World Cup final for the third consecutive time, and had maintained a perfect record of six wins before this match. However, they ultimately lost 0-2 to Spain, and their dream came to an end.
