38-year-old former Japan international Inui was interviewed by Japanese media and discussed his current situation.

On his transfer to Jubilo Iwata

"Coming to a new environment, I feel like I'm starting from scratch. I'm 38 years old. If I were 24 or 25, I might have stayed in Kobe. But now there's not much time left in my career, so I want to choose a path where I can play football as I wish, and most importantly, I want to get regular playing time."

On being benched repeatedly last season

"This situation has been part of my career for a long time. I had long stretches on the bench during my time in Germany and Spain. When I returned to Japan and transferred to Shimizu, I played consistently at first, but then lost my place midway through—something I've experienced before. After going through these situations, I simply crave opportunities to play."

On young player Tokumo Kawai

"Tokumo Kawai is an excellent player, and I'm genuinely happy to see him performing well. I will compete against him, but at this stage, his form is clearly better than mine."

"To be honest, the weather is extremely hot right now, and it's difficult for me to reach peak condition (laughs), so I'm not worried. If the young players on the team can play freely, it will boost the team's overall morale. I just want to steadily work my way back into form."
