On July 15, according to CNN, the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) set new goals for the new cycle: win the 2028 Copa América and rank first in the FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

CNN Brasil reported that the CBF set this goal at a planning meeting held on the 14th. The meeting was chaired by CBF President Samir Chaude, and attended by vice presidents, directors, and presidents of state football federations. Rodrigo Caetano, executive coordinator of the men's national team, was also present, and according to the CBF, he "reported on the ongoing work."

Caetano explained the Brazilian team's preparations from Carlo Ancelotti's appointment until the FIFA World Cup, where Brazil was eliminated in the round of 16 by Norway.

The CBF wrote in the meeting minutes: "The executive coordinator showed how the plan will cover the selection of high-level opponents and different schools of global football." The announcement also praised the integration between youth teams and senior teams, mentioning that "23 of the 26 summoned players have played for youth teams."

President Samir Chaude said: "Of course, we hoped for a better result (in the men's FIFA World Cup), but it's important to show everything that's happening – both the continuous development of youth teams and the integration between all age levels of men's and women's football. So the work won't stop, it's continuous. We've turned this page and are now shifting our focus back to the Women's FIFA World Cup, while also looking ahead to the 2030 cycle."

During the meeting, Brazilian women's football coach Arthur presented the plan for the 2027 Women's FIFA World Cup, which will be held in Brazil. The tournament will kick off on June 24 next year, and the Brazilian team will use four international match windows between October 2026 and April 2027 for preparations. In addition, a friendly match against Japan has been confirmed for the end of this year. The roster for the Women's FIFA World Cup will be announced in May 2027.
