In the FIFA World Cup semi-final, the England team lost 1-2 to Argentina and failed to advance. Afterwards, Kane spoke about his thoughts on the match during an interview with British media.

Harry, it's such a pity to end the FIFA World Cup journey in such a heartbreaking way. I know it's hard for you to calm down right now. How do you feel?
Alas, my heart is full of these teammates, and everyone else — the coaching staff, the staff, the fans. We played well for most of the game. After taking a one-goal lead, we just wanted to defend and hold onto the advantage, but at the FIFA World Cup level, simply defending doesn't work.
It's extremely painful. We fought with all our might to get this far. All the lads gave their all, running, sweating, fighting until they bled and cried, giving everything. But today we still fell short, which is really disappointing.
After leading 1-0, what difficulties did you encounter?
We found it difficult to press the ball-carrier effectively again. In the first half and the early stages of the second half, our high press was very good, continuously putting huge pressure on the opponent in the front field, thereby winning back possession and better controlling the pace of the game.
But after scoring, whether the opponent brought more players forward to press or we couldn't keep up with their players one-on-one, their attacks came wave after wave. My teammates all threw themselves in front of shots, but in the end, we still couldn't hold on.
In the end, was the team at the end of its tether, physically exhausted?
I can't say for sure. The players are always ready to fight at any point in the game. After we took the lead, the instruction passed around the team was to keep attacking and score another goal to extend our advantage. After they scored two goals, we tried our best to find scoring opportunities, but we couldn't regain our momentum.
What did you learn from this FIFA World Cup?
We had many great moments and many exciting games in this tournament, and we once again reached the semi-finals. We have been saying that we are close to success, and we just need to find that missing piece of the puzzle in the later stages of the game.
These matches are a huge test for the players' physical and mental strength, requiring tremendous effort and immense pressure. We have proven this over the past six or seven weeks, but we are still missing the final piece of the puzzle.
