According to Spanish media outlet Nós Diario, Celta de Vigo midfielder Ilaix Moriba has been offered to five Premier League clubs, including Aston Villa, as the team hopes to alleviate financial pressure by selling the player.

Celta de Vigo faced a loss of approximately 14 million euros at the start of the new fiscal year, mainly due to the failure to complete any player sales before June 30. Therefore, the club hopes to complete a significant transfer this summer, with Moriba becoming one of the most prominent candidates to depart.
It is understood that Moriba has been on the transfer market list since the end of last season. Celta de Vigo had hoped to complete the sale before June 30 but ultimately failed, leading the club to end the financial cycle with a loss of approximately 15 million euros. However, the plan to sell Moriba has not changed, and the player himself remains silent and continues to participate in team training normally.
To find potential buyers, Celta de Vigo has recently been working through agents and intermediaries in the Premier League market. At least five English clubs are aware of Moriba's transfer conditions, including Aston Villa, Sunderland, Crystal Palace, Nottingham Forest, and Hull City.
Celta de Vigo hopes to generate at least 20 million euros from Moriba's transfer. In 2025, the club spent approximately 6 million euros to sign the midfielder from Leipzig, but the German club retained a future resale percentage, and Moriba himself also owns part of the economic rights. Therefore, Celta de Vigo needs a sufficiently high transfer fee to achieve the desired return.
In addition, Moriba's current salary is one of the highest within Celta de Vigo, second only to Iago Aspas after his contract renewal with a reduced salary, which also limits the number of clubs that can afford his contract. Celta de Vigo believes that the Premier League, as the highest-earning league in the world, is the most likely next destination for Moriba.
However, these five Premier League teams have not yet officially submitted an offer. Previously, Celta de Vigo had hoped that a team would approach Moriba's 30 million euro release clause, but the market response was lower than expected. The club believes that after the World Cup, the transfer market will gradually heat up in the coming weeks, and Moriba's deal may see new developments.
