Chelsea has raised approximately £120 million through player sales in the summer transfer window, with a good chance of exceeding the £300 million mark again.

Last year, Chelsea became the first Premier League club to generate over £300 million from player sales in a summer window. They are likely to do so again this year.
Summer sales usually don't excite fans too much, as their main focus is on new signings. So far, Chelsea has only signed Palestra from Atalanta, though Kunda (Sporting CP) and Emega (Strasbourg), who were agreed upon last year, will also be new faces.
However, the need to comply with Premier League and UEFA financial rules makes player sales important. The logic is simple: the more revenue generated, the more funds can be reinvested into the squad.
Chelsea has already raised around £120 million from the departures of Cucurella (Real Madrid), Santos (Barcelona), George (Everton), and Jimmy-Jay Morgan (West Brom). Additionally, they received a significant compensation fee from Manchester City and their new manager Enzo Maresca, due to the manner of the latter's departure from Stamford Bridge earlier this year.
But Chelsea still has the potential to raise more funds and needs to streamline its squad. With no European competition in the 2026-27 season, having too many fringe players in training is not healthy.
As Cucurella and Santos have shown, some players are sought after elsewhere and can easily fetch a good price. Enzo and Gusto are also not on Chelsea's "not for sale" list, but the obstacle to their departure lies in the club's valuation (of £120 million and £75 million respectively). Not many teams can afford them. In any case, Chelsea would not be disappointed if both end up staying.
The real difficulty lies in selling players you no longer need or want at the desired price.
As the World Cup draws to a close, the market is expected to become active, presenting an opportunity for more Chelsea players to leave. In some cases, people may need to be reminded of the merits, rather than the drawbacks, of players who might be allowed to depart. However, the sales pitch shouldn't be too difficult.
Take Garnacho for example. When news broke that Chelsea was asking for €50 million (approximately £42.5 million) for the Argentine winger, there was an uproar. Given his struggling performances at Stamford Bridge after joining from Manchester United for £40 million, you can understand why some questioned the high price.
However, he is the same age as Santos, who was essentially sold to Manchester United for a similar price. Garnacho has more Premier League appearances than the Brazilian, and attacking players usually command a premium. Despite his poor performance at Chelsea, his goal tally across all competitions in the 2025-26 season (8 goals) is the same as the highly-rated Estêvão Willian. At 22, he still has potential for improvement.
The same applies to 23-year-old striker Delap. Admittedly, a record of 3 goals in 47 appearances makes it difficult for suitors to open their checkbooks, but his 12 Premier League goals for relegated Ipswich in the 2024-25 season are still fresh in memory. The idea of restoring the striker to that form would certainly appeal to some teams.
Another striker who might be sold is Nicolas Jackson, although he will join the team for pre-season training starting next week.
Chelsea fans are more aware than most of his shooting flaws and his less than exemplary on-field discipline. But he has contributed 42 goals (30 goals and 12 assists) in 81 appearances for the club, which is a considerable tally. While he may have played a supporting role during his loan spell at Bayern Munich last season, the 25-year-old now has experience of winning a domestic league and cup double, in addition to the Conference League and Club World Cup he won previously with Chelsea.
Need a center-back? Chelsea has several options.
Bringing in England World Cup member Trevor Chalobah for a total of £35 million would undoubtedly be a shrewd deal. It's not surprising that Serie A side Como are very interested. He has made 151 appearances for Chelsea, which is no mean feat for an academy graduate. Chalobah has won five major honors and proved his ability to adapt quickly to new teams through his performances on loan at Crystal Palace in 2024.
Defending Axel Disasi earlier in the year might have been difficult. The French international was almost a forgotten man in football during the first half of last season when his transfer didn't materialize and he trained separately from the first team. However, arguably he was Chelsea's most consistent center-back – albeit on loan at West Ham United for the second half of the season. The 28-year-old was key to West Ham United's continued hope of avoiding relegation until the final round. His clean and crisp defensive style should make it easy for Chelsea to compile highlight reels.
Badiashile might be more challenging. But when he's good, he can be excellent. For example, in Chelsea's 2-1 victory over Liverpool last October, Badiashile successfully defended Isak from the start. Before injuries affected his confidence, Chelsea fans would sing a song in his honor, about co-owner "Boehly going to France in a Lamborghini and buying himself a center-back, Badiashile." With a slight update, fans of Badiashile's next club might also enjoy singing about him.
Danish and American goalkeepers Filip Jörgensen and Gaga Slonina are eager for a fresh start in pursuit of more playing time. At 24 and 22 respectively, their peak years as goalkeepers are still far off.
Jörgensen has made 80 appearances for Chelsea and Villarreal, 14 of which were during Chelsea's 2024-25 Conference League winning campaign, where he made over 40 saves. Did he show flaws in the Champions League away loss to Paris Saint-Germain in March? Certainly. But there's still plenty of material to work with.
Slonina, who has played for Chicago Fire, Eupen, and Barnsley (all on loan), also has a foundation for further development.
There are other players as well. Chelsea is considering whether Guiú will be a loan or a permanent transfer. If it's the latter, the 20-year-old has an impressive resume: he came through Barcelona's academy, is a Spanish U21 international, and has scored 8 goals in 29 appearances for Chelsea. Admittedly, he is still a bit raw, but has significant room for improvement.
Even the marginalized David Fofana can point to his 4 Premier League goals on loan at Burnley in 2024, and his 6 goals in 13 appearances for Turkish club Fatih Karagümrük last season, to justify an offer.
Even if Enzo and Gusto stay, the talent listed here is enough for Chelsea to break the £300 million barrier for a second time. Becoming an "elite seller" is not a trophy Chelsea aspires to, but it is still impressive.
