According to Argentina's Olé newspaper, the Argentine government is evaluating whether to declare a national holiday on Monday if the national team defeats Spain in the FIFA World Cup final.

Hours before kickoff, Argentina and Spain are set to play in the final at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, with Slovenian referee Slavko Vinčić officiating. Discussions have begun within the Argentine government about whether to declare Monday a holiday. According to Clarín, everything depends on the match results, but there is a high probability that Monday will be declared a holiday, a non-working day, or a day off. If Argentina wins, the most likely scenario is a holiday declaration, just like in 2022.

In 2022, after Argentina defeated France in Qatar, then-President Alberto Fernández declared Tuesday, December 20, a national holiday via an Emergency Decree to allow people to celebrate with the championship team. At that time, the Argentine team toured on an open-top bus, spending an unforgettable day with their fans.

Current cabinet minister Diego Santilli stated after attending an exhibition that Argentina's La Libertad Avanza party maintains direct communication with members of the Argentine Football Association to coordinate the team's return home. Santilli said that the Argentine government has provided support to the national team staff, assisting them in organizing their itinerary and security.

When asked about street celebrations, Santilli said: "The decision rests with the players, with the team, it's not up to the government. We will respect and support their decision." He also revealed that he, along with the Secretary General of the Presidency Karina Milei, is responsible for liaising with senior officials of the Argentine Football Association regarding the team's return.
