After Spain won the 2026 Canada-Mexico-USA FIFA World Cup, Oscar winner Javier Bardem praised the team: "Thank you for setting an example for us with your teamwork, unbreakable collective cohesion, elegance, and sportsmanship."

Javier Bardem told DAZN after the match: "This game was like a movie full of emotions, with a very shocking ending and extreme tension, but the acting, directing, and overall aesthetics were excellent... Look how beautiful it is, please. Look at these young people! Most importantly, they played fairly and beautifully, setting an example for millions of children around the world who watched this final, teaching them how to win through fair competition."
Pablo Pintole asked Bardem what role he would play if he were to act in a movie about this team. Bardem replied with a smile: "Me? I'd be the equipment manager. Don't make me run, I'm too old."
Javier Bardem shared a post with his more than 1.4 million followers on social media, along with a photo of himself with Iglesias.
He wrote: "This is a group of players who represent the diversity of Spain and embody the respect and support due to those groups and nations who need a voice. Thank you for setting an example for us with your teamwork, unbreakable collective unity, elegance, and sportsmanship. This example is being celebrated by millions of children around the world who are watching you with hope and anticipation. Thank you for making us so proud to be part of the same country. You deserve to be world champions! Congratulations!"
