Antonio Conte revealed he has not received a call about the vacant Italy job.

Conte left Napoli at the end of last season after two campaigns in charge, having led them to the Serie A title in 2024-25.

He was heavily linked with the Italy job both before and after his exit, but the Azzurri are yet to name their new permanent head coach.

Gennaro Gattuso stepped down from the role after Italy missed out on a third straight World Cup campaign following their penalty-shootout loss to Bosnia-Herzegovina.

Conte previously managed Italy between 2014 and 2016, through to the end of that year's Euros, in which they were beaten on penalties by Germany in the quarter-finals.

But when asked if he had been contacted to take the position again, he simply told DAZN Italia: "No."

"I was already the Italy coach, and it was a wonderful experience," Conte added.

"I think that people with strong values have been put in charge. We all know Marco Malago is a strong figure, while Paolo Maldini [Italy's new technical director] could not remain out of football.

"He was, in my view, the best ever Italian defender, but also did very well as a director at [AC] Milan.

"What I must say is that the most important thing is that there is a shared vision, that it is embraced without ifs or buts. That is the prerogative to build something important."
