In the 58th minute, Molina replaced Montiel. In the 70th minute, Romero was injured and replaced by Medina, while Giuliano Simeone replaced De Paul. However, Enzo Fernandez's red card before extra time changed the course of the game. Scaloni reserved the extra-time substitution for Senesi, bringing him on to replace Alvarez to strengthen the defense, which meant Lautaro completely lost his chance to play.
