According to Bild, FIFA President Gianni Infantino flew nearly 97,000 kilometers during the FIFA World Cup in the US, Canada, and Mexico, despite FIFA previously declaring its commitment to actively addressing climate change.

An Associated Press analysis showed that Infantino's total flight distance during the 39-day FIFA World Cup was approximately 96,560 kilometers. AP tracked the flight records of a private business jet he has used in recent years, and referenced photos taken by AP photographers as well as posts by FIFA and Infantino himself on social media, to piece together his itinerary. The report noted that Infantino mostly traveled on a Gulfstream G650, operated by Qatar Airways' charter division, and Qatar Airways is one of the sponsors of this FIFA World Cup.
According to AP statistics, Infantino's itinerary, in addition to attending 44 of the 104 matches, also included an interview with Fox & Friends in New York, attending a FIFA summit in Miami with representatives from 211 member associations, and flying to Doha for the funeral of the former Emir of Qatar, returning to the US in time to watch the FIFA World Cup semi-finals.
On 31 of the 34 match days, he was present at at least one match, with no matches scheduled on 5 of those days. On 13 days, he even watched two matches. Additionally, Infantino has visited every one of the at least 16 FIFA World Cup stadiums.
His longest flight to a FIFA World Cup match occurred on June 15, from Miami to Seattle, taking 344 minutes, where he watched Belgium play Egypt. In comparison, this flight time is roughly equivalent to watching 3 complete FIFA World Cup matches. The shortest flight occurred on July 6, from Seattle to Vancouver, taking only 28 minutes.
FIFA did not respond to the Associated Press's inquiries about Infantino's itinerary and travel arrangements.
