In the previous World Cup match against Australia, Messi could have cut inside himself but instead passed to Lautaro, creating a near-breakaway chance (which Lautaro missed). And in the Copa América final, right after Lautaro scored the decisive goal, he rushed straight to embrace Messi. We all sympathize with Lautaro—but let’s not unfairly blame Messi.
