According to Goal.com, former PSV coach and Dutch legend Mark van Bommel has emerged as the frontrunner for the vacant Belgium national team manager position. Sources within the Belgian FA suggest the 49-year-old Dutchman is at the top of the list to succeed Rudi Garcia as the Red Devils' boss.

The Belgian FA is keen to appoint a new manager swiftly following Rudi Garcia's departure, and Van Bommel is seen as the ideal successor. The former Dutch international has so far declined to comment on the reports, but multiple sources confirm he is indeed among the candidates.

Van Bommel enjoys a good reputation in Belgium, largely due to his successful tenure at Royal Antwerp. In 2023, he led the team to their first league title since 1957 and won the Belgian Cup, achieving a double. A year later, he added the Belgian Super Cup to his accolades.

Belgium decided to part ways with Garcia after a disappointing performance in the FIFA World Cup. Although the Red Devils reached the quarter-finals and faced Spain, their overall display was consistently underwhelming.
