Ferran Torres has become part of Spanish football history. The Barcelona forward scored the winning goal, returning Spain to the pinnacle of world football after 16 years. Coming on as a substitute, he completely changed the game, becoming the only player to breach Emiliano Martínez's goal. With his goal, the team coached by Luis de la Fuente defeated Argentina and lifted the FIFA World Cup at MetLife Stadium.

There is no doubt that Ferran is currently riding high. For this reason, the "Espejo Público" program traveled to Foyos, the hometown of the Barcelona forward, to find out how the locals reacted when Spain won. One of the people interviewed by the program was Vicente, one of the neighbors who watched Ferran Torres grow up.

Vicente first stated that he had watched the player grow up since he was very young: "We used to have dinner together in the street, and we would always say to him, 'Ferran, you're always with the ball.' Even then, you could see he was special."

This neighbor from Foyos emphasized that Ferran Torres's success has not changed him or those around him. "His father is an electrician and should be celebrating with him in New York now, but he is still the same as before. His whole family is very nice and humble."

In this small Valencian town, this is highly valued: "It's hard to describe in words to see humble people like us achieve such great things for Spain. We dreamed all night, and now we're just starting to realize that we really did it."

Vicente also took the opportunity to tell an interesting anecdote involving himself, Ferran Torres, and his grandfather Fernando. Fernando always encouraged his grandson by giving him one euro for every goal he scored. "We often had dinner together on Saturdays, and Ferran would run over and say: 'Uncle Vicente, I scored three goals today, and Grandpa gave me three euros.'"

In his opinion, this was more than just a simple reward: "Children need to feel that what they do is recognized. He always had this motivation and never lost his desire to score."

Finally, before leaving the Antena 3 program, Vicente stated that the Spanish forward Ferran Torres is often unfairly judged: "People demand more from him than they should. He needs to be allowed to play in peace, because when it matters, he will prove that he is a top player. He has a talent for seeing the angle for the ball to go into the goal."
