According to French media outlet Footmercato, AC Milan is attempting to snatch 20-year-old Troyes defender Souleymane Diawara, who previously seemed close to joining Rangers.

The report claims that the Rossoneri have intervened, trying to poach the young player from under Rangers' nose.

Diawara's contract with Troyes expires in June next year, making the center-back a hot commodity in the transfer market.

Earlier reports indicated that Diawara was close to completing his transfer to Rangers, with Rangers holding a significant advantage as they would integrate Diawara into their first-team squad, whereas AC Milan would relegate the player to their U23 team, which currently only competes in Serie D.

However, Diawara might get the opportunity to train and showcase his skills under coach Amorim, especially if AC Milan successfully sells Tomori.

Diawara is a tall center-back who can also play as a left-back and is left-footed. He came through the Troyes youth academy and has represented the France U19 national team.
