Baena became a topic of discussion during the Spanish national team's celebrations, especially when he and his teammates went to Moncloa Palace, the seat of the Spanish government.

There, a controversial incident occurred between Baena and Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez. During the greeting ceremony, the player did not look Sánchez directly in the face, a scene reminiscent of what then-Real Madrid captain Carvajal did in 2024.

This image sparked a lot of comments on social media, with one netizen writing: "He has the right to do what he wants, but wearing the national team jersey, such an action is not appropriate."

Another netizen commented: "There are always some people who lack manners."

Spanish newspaper La Razón also posted photos of the meeting on its social media account with the caption: "Attention, this is Moncloa Palace, don't forget to leave the trophy here."

The newspaper claimed that this sentence was said by the Atletico Madrid player to his teammate Rodri during the visit.

But after this online controversy, Baena decided to respond personally, leaving a comment under La Razón's post: "Don't you have any other lies for people to read today?"

Baena thus directly denied the circulating claims and stated that the remarks attributed to him during his visit to the Spanish government's prime minister's office were unfounded.
