A worker has unfortunately died in an accident at the Camp Nou construction site.

According to EFE, an accident occurred at the Camp Nou construction site on Friday local time, marking the first fatal accident since the Camp Nou renovation project began. A 54-year-old worker died after being severely impacted while working inside the stadium.

Local police stated that the Les Corts police station in Barcelona received a report of the accident at 3:30 PM. The man was struck while participating in the stadium's renovation work and subsequently died. Several police units quickly arrived at Camp Nou, but it was too late.

Following established procedures for such accidents, the police have reported the incident to the duty investigating judge and the business and labor departments.

This is the first recorded fatality since the Camp Nou renovation project began in June 2023, which involves extensive refurbishment of the stadium. Currently, the construction focus is mainly on building the third tier of stands and the compression ring that will support the future stadium roof (which is expected to be installed next summer).
