Spain coach De la Fuente visits fire victims at Las Rozas Sports City, calls it "a responsibility and an honor."

According to Mundo Deportivo, Spain national team coach Luis de la Fuente visited the fire victims at the La Masuela Sports City in Las Rozas (Madrid) this Sunday, offering encouragement to the evacuated residents. He stated: "Coming here is a responsibility and an honor."

In an interview with Spanish National Radio, De la Fuente said: "Everyone has an obligation to help others and give them encouragement during these tragic moments." He believes the most important thing is "to try to make these people happy and to make them feel the support and companionship of all of Spain."

The Spanish coach, who led his team to victory against Argentina in the World Cup final on July 19, stressed that his way of offering help is "to share their pain, so they can feel a little calmer and cheer up." He explained: "What I want to do is try to make those who are suffering happy, even if only for a few hours. It's an honor to be here, it makes us more human. The most important thing now is to focus on human lives." He added: "All of Spain is watching them, they have the support of the whole nation, just like the support we feel when we play."

De la Fuente also spoke about the work of the Spanish Football Federation, which has opened its official residence in Las Rozas Football City to fire victims, providing accommodation for vulnerable evacuated families.

To date, more than 116,000 people have been evacuated or restricted in several regions of Spain due to successive fires. The vast majority (about 100,000) are from the Madrid and Ávila regions, with another approximately 16,000 evacuated from the eastern province of Castellón.
