Yamal thanks his mother, Sheila Ebana, in the documentary for her sacrifices, admitting that despite an imperfect childhood, his mother only showed him the good side.

Yamal is not only a rising star for Barcelona but is also consolidating his status as a new star in international football. Despite his young age, the Barcelona winger has continuously broken through barriers since entering the top league, becoming a key player for both the club and the Spanish national team.
His story began in the Rocafonda neighborhood of Mataró, a humble area that still holds a special place in his heart. In fact, after every goal, he makes a "304" gesture with his hand—that's the postal code of the neighborhood where he grew up. He dreamed of wearing the Barcelona jersey since he was a child, a wish that came true earlier than he expected.
Among those around Yamal, the most familiar name to the public is his father, Mounir Nasraoui, who has a distinctive personality and rarely misses a match. On the other side, more low-key yet supportive of Yamal, is his mother, Sheila Ebana.
Sheila, from Bata, Equatorial Guinea, immigrated to Spain in her teens and gave birth to Yamal at 21. She separated from Mounir when their child was three but decided to stay in Catalonia for her and her son's future.
As Yamal says in the documentary "304," his mother is one of the indispensable figures in his life. Although he moved into the La Masia academy at the age of 12, his mother has always been an unconditional supporter. "My mother worked at McDonald's, and we had limited resources, but we were very happy during holidays. She bought me a PlayStation. No matter what I give her, I can never repay what she gave me. My mother was one of my role models when I was a child."
Yamal recalls with a smile, "I would come home, and she would talk to me, prepare food, and then go to work." This 39-year-old mother is now the central figure behind her son's stardom. When Yamal was playing in La Torreta, Sheila made a crucial decision: to stay in Granollers, work hard, and devote all her energy to her son's development.
Sheila now lives in Maresme with her son Kai. This summer, she is resting in a quiet place and sending her son to summer camp. Sheila is very happy and now has nearly 2 million followers on social media.
She often posts videos on social media, especially daily life with Yamal and her younger son. She has quit her job, having worked hard in the catering industry for many years. On Yamal’s 18th birthday, she posted a video message: "Although years pass and you continue to grow, in my heart, you will always be my little baby. Happy birthday, my child, I hope you are always happy. I love you very much."
Yamal also expressed gratitude for his mother's long-standing dedication. "I always tell my mother that I am very grateful to her because even though she was in a difficult situation at the time, she didn't let me see anything bad. Maybe my childhood wasn't the most perfect, but she made me only see the good side, only enjoy. I have no regrets," he admitted.
In the DAZN documentary "Decoded," Yamal admitted he never thought he would make it to the first team at such a young age. "I could imagine playing for Barcelona, but I didn't expect it so soon. It's a dream; since childhood, you dream of playing in the Champions League," he said.
Such rapid growth also forced him to adapt to a life trajectory that changed overnight. Nevertheless, he admitted he had little time to stop and reflect on his achievements. "Everything is too fast; you don't have time to think too much. Thank God, I haven't suffered any serious injuries, but sometimes you think: 'Wow, what you are doing is very beautiful, it's what everyone longs for.'"
Before joining La Masia, Yamal took his first steps in football at La Torreta club, where he gradually developed his signature style. "Creative, fun to play. I might not touch the ball for several minutes, but in just one minute, I can make you feel that watching a football match is an enjoyable thing." This is how he describes his understanding of football.
