According to Italian media outlet Slow Motion, Juventus coach Spalletti has suffered a major family tragedy, with his mother, Ilva, passing away at the age of 93.

Spalletti has always had a very close relationship with his mother. In September 2023, Spalletti, who had just been appointed the new coach of the Italian national team, emotionally recalled his childhood memories. He said: "When I was 11, I asked my mother to sew me a huge flag. It was during the Mexico World Cup, and mothers would sew things at home.
