According to Goal.com, Uruguayan forward Darwin Nunez is close to ending his career at Al-Hilal, and he will leave on a loan with an option to buy, with a contract until June 2027.

Sources familiar with the matter revealed that Nunez is currently training with Al-Hilal in Austria, and he strongly wishes to leave. The club's management has also agreed in principle to loan him out.

Nunez initially requested a direct contract termination, and subsequently, both parties found a compromise: he would waive part of his salary, and in exchange, Al-Hilal would bear part of his salary for one season.

Nunez insisted on leaving because he hopes to return to Europe and join a team capable of competing for championships. In the past few days, his agent has recommended him to Barcelona, and Barcelona's internal team has already studied the deal.

According to the Spanish newspaper "Sport", Nunez's next stop could be the Portuguese league, with Porto and Benfica both showing strong interest in him. All parties hope to finalize the deal before the Al-Hilal delegation returns to Saudi Arabia on August 3.

Nunez is most inclined to return to Benfica. He spent one of the best periods of his career there. When he joined Benfica from Almeria in Spain, the Portuguese club intercepted Barcelona with a €25 million offer. He then performed exceptionally well, transferring to Liverpool for more than €75 million.

However, the Uruguayan international failed to adapt to the pace of the Premier League, and his experience in the Saudi League did not achieve the expected consistent performance.

Although he also received other offers from Atalanta and Besiktas, none were finalized; Barcelona's interest is also currently only a proposal and has not yet materialized into formal progress.
