Before the FIFA World Cup, I said in an interview that my dream was to score at the tournament. I never imagined that, by the end, my goal would be voted the best goal of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

It is a tremendous honor to receive this award. I am incredibly happy and grateful for this recognition and for everything it represents—not just for me, but, more importantly, for Cape Verde. I hope this moment inspires the youth of Cape Verde to believe that dreams can come true.

I want to thank everyone who has been part of this journey and everyone who has given me so much love and support over the past few weeks. None of this would have been possible without you.

This is just another step in my journey. I promise to keep working hard, scoring more goals, achieving more, and continuing to proudly represent Cape Verde.
