Former Liverpool player Carragher once hoped the team would sign Pedro Neto, and rumors of Neto’s transfer to Liverpool have now resurfaced.

Liverpool are still looking for a replacement this summer for Salah, who left after nine years with the Reds. Despite missing out on Jan-Diomande—who is close to joining Real Madrid—speculation about who Liverpool might sign has been rampant.

Barcola is currently the most talked-about name; after refusing to renew his contract with PSG, he may be closer to leaving. If Paris is unwilling to budge on Barcola's asking price, Liverpool have other alternatives, including Brighton's Yankuba Minteh and Lille's Fernandez Pardo.

Another name recently mentioned is Neto, whose future at Chelsea has been called into question. According to the Daily Mail, both Liverpool and Man City are monitoring a potential deal, but Chelsea are not actively looking to sell him and, even if they do, it will not be at a low price.

Carragher may hope Neto enters the transfer market, as the Liverpool legend highly rates him and has previously expressed disappointment that his old club did not sign him sooner. Carragher chose Neto as his best signing prediction for the 2024-25 season, stating on Sky Sports: "I chose him because I think if it wasn't for injuries, he would be fully capable of playing for the world's top teams."

"I've been watching him at Wolves for the past three or four years, and I've always wanted Liverpool to sign him. I value his speed and ball control; he can score goals. I just hope he stays healthy," Carragher added. "If Chelsea can keep him healthy, I think he's a special player, and I'm even a little worried about him getting injured again."

The Liverpool Echo commented that Neto might be a good option, but his injury record makes the deal too risky. Switching from a player like Salah, who rarely gets injured, to a player who is frequently absent would be a clear downgrade for Liverpool.
