Major League Soccer (MLS) paused its league schedule this week for the All-Star Game. This year marks the fifth time the American soccer league’s All-Star Game has invited players from the Mexican League to participate.

The All-Star Game will take place this Wednesday in Charlotte, North Carolina, featuring 29 MLS players and 24 Mexican League players.
On Tuesday, the day before the match, the players took part in the Skills Challenge. Muller tied with Brazilian player Evander (Cincinnati No. 10) in the shooting challenge, with both scoring 79 points to set a new record in the event's 30-year history.
In addition to the shooting challenge, players also participated in the crossbar challenge and the passing challenge on Tuesday, with the latter won by Charlotte's American defender Tim Ream.
MLS's top star, Inter Miami's Lionel Messi, and his teammate De Paul were excused from the All-Star Game because both represented Argentina in the World Cup final on July 19 and are currently on vacation.
Tuesday's event also could not avoid the "tradition" of American outdoor sports: it was temporarily interrupted due to the risk of thunderstorms.
