According to Sport Bild, Borussia Dortmund and kit sponsor Puma jointly unveiled the team's new third kit for the 2026/27 season, with the bold color scheme quickly becoming a talking point among fans.

The jersey features a vibrant purple as its main color, paired with fluorescent yellow details, creating a strong visual impact. The club's promotional slogan for it is "SHINE DIFFERENT."

Borussia Dortmund officially stated: "This jersey, with its bright purple and fluorescent yellow elements, is dedicated to fans who are willing to break through traditional colors and pursue a different style."

The launch of the new kit took place during Borussia Dortmund's business tour in Japan. After concluding activities in Osaka, the team traveled to Tokyo and held a presentation event in the city center. Players including Nmecha and Joanderson Garro participated in the new kit's unveiling.

However, this design has sparked polarized reviews on social media. Some fans appreciated the club's innovation, with one commenting: "I think it's great." But other fans were not convinced, stating: "It gets worse every year."

Borussia Dortmund, however, emphasized that although the new kit departs from the traditional black and yellow, it still retains the club's cultural DNA.

The club explained: "Compared to the classic black and yellow, Borussia Dortmund has adopted a more powerful purple as the base color this time. But the club's DNA is still present, with fluorescent yellow details on the V-neck and cuffs connecting to the traditional team colors."

In addition, the jersey incorporates detailed designs. The chest and body logos are bright yellow, creating a sharp contrast with the purple background; fine stripe textures give the jersey a more modern and athletic visual effect.

As in previous seasons, the slogan "Borussia verbindet" (Borussia connects) is retained on the back of the neck, continuing the team's expression of the concept of unity.
