On July 30, Borussia Monchengladbach officially announced that the team has loaned Japanese defender Daiki Hashioka from Czech league champions Slavia Prague until June 30, 2027, with a buy-out clause included in the contract.

Borussia Monchengladbach sporting director Roland Virkus said: "Daiki Hashioka is a fast defender with strong heading ability and an aggressive playing style. He can play as a right-back and also as a right center-back. He has rich experience, and we believe he will quickly help the team."

Daiki Hashioka will wear the No. 14 jersey for Borussia Monchengladbach. He said: "When my agent told me that Borussia Monchengladbach was interested in me, I was very happy. I quickly decided that this was the choice I wanted, and I am very much looking forward to the new challenge in the Bundesliga."

Daiki Hashioka was born in 1999 and began his career in the Urawa Red Diamonds youth academy, where he made his professional debut. Between 2018 and 2020, he played 96 official matches for Urawa Red Diamonds, scoring 6 goals, and won the 2018 Emperor's Cup with the team.

In early 2021, Daiki Hashioka joined Belgian side Sint-Truiden on loan, and was later permanently signed by the team. During his time at Sint-Truiden, he made 91 appearances and scored 2 goals. In 2024, he transferred to English club Luton Town and played in the Premier League for them.

Last season, Daiki Hashioka played for Slavia Prague and participated in the Champions League with the team. In the latter half of the season, he was loaned to Belgian club Genk.

Internationally, Daiki Hashioka made his debut for the Japanese national team in December 2019 and has since made 12 appearances for Japan. In 2021, he participated in the Tokyo Olympics with the Japanese U23 team and ultimately finished fourth.
