Sam Lee, Manchester City correspondent for The Athletic, said on Weekend Sports Breakfast that speculation continues regarding Grealish's next destination.

The 30-year-old returned to his boyhood club this summer, but his future is unclear. Last season, he was on loan at Everton.

However, he suffered a stress fracture in his foot in January against another former club, Aston Villa.

This injury not only ended his club season prematurely but also ruled him out of contention for England's World Cup squad.

Everton ultimately did not activate the £50 million buyout clause in his loan contract, and Grealish consequently returned to the Etihad Stadium.

talkSPORT understands that the Saudi League is interested in Grealish, with Al-Hilal being one potential option.

After being overlooked by Guardiola, Grealish might have hoped for a new beginning under Maresca, following the Spaniard's decision to step down in May.

But the foot injury prevented him from joining the team's pre-season tour, and Lee believes there is little doubt about his future at the Etihad.

Lee said on talkSPORT's Weekend Breakfast: "I think now it's just a question of where he goes and how much the transfer fee will be."

"It's a bit like that situation a few years ago. I'm not saying there's been a falling out between Grealish and the club, but the situation is very similar, and I don't think he has much of a future there."

"It was the same with Cancelo two years ago; although there were disagreements at the time, he still participated in the pre-season tour, and everyone knew he would eventually be sold; it was just a question of where he would go.

"As for Grealish, he hasn't been explicitly excluded. He's still recovering from the injury you mentioned.

"He had foot surgery in February this year. Obviously, Maresca has taken over, and he might have a different view on this compared to Guardiola.

"But under Guardiola, he was definitely not in the plans anymore.

"Guardiola and Maresca are very close; they communicate a lot. Honestly, I would be very surprised if Grealish gets another chance."

Maresca's Response

When asked about Grealish's future, Maresca surprisingly admitted that he hadn't even spoken to him yet.

Maresca told the media: "I haven't spoken to Jack during my time here. Jack is a Manchester City player. When we return to Manchester, if he is fit, he will train with us."

Grealish joined Manchester City from Villa in the summer of 2021 for £100 million and has enjoyed a trophy-laden spell at the Etihad.

He helped the team win the treble in the 2022/23 season and has personally won 3 Premier League titles.
