Bayern Munich kickstarted their tour of Asia with a 2-1 victory over Jeju SK in South Korea, with their goals coming from young forwards Felipe Chavez and Bastian Assomo.

Chavez and Assomo were on target either side of a glorious equaliser from the K-League side, teed up by Matheus Aias following a rainbow flick, as Bayern got a hard-earned win ahead of facing Aston Villa in Hong Kong on Friday.

Vincent Kompany named a young Bayern lineup with South Korea international Kim Min-jae wearing the captain's armband, but they went ahead in the 11th minute as 19-year-old striker Chavez stroked home left-footed after Jeju failed to clear from a corner.

But the hosts struck back only five minutes later, with Kim unable to stop a wonderful piece of skill from Aias. The Brazilian pulled off an audacious rainbow flick over Kim's head inside a crowded penalty area, before offloading for Lee Chang-min to finish.

Bayern almost conceded a calamitous own goal when Hiroki Ito's back pass flew beyond the stranded Jonas Urbig and rolled narrowly wide of the post, before Chavez and Tom Bischof drew a double save from Jeju goalkeeper Heo Ja-woong.

But Heo could do nothing to prevent the Bundesliga champions from reestablishing their lead four minutes before half-time, as 16-year-old Assomo received Joao Palhinha's reverse pass on the edge of the area, then whipped his shot inside the near post.

Joshua Kimmich and Jonathan Tah were among the senior Bayern players to enter the fray in the 62nd minute, shortly after Urbig made a decent save to thwart Choi Byung-Wook.

Bayern continued to monopolise possession without really threatening until Luis Diaz headlined another triple substitution, with the Colombian being denied a late third goal by Joo Seung-min's sprawling save. 

Bayern youngsters impress in pre-season tune-up

With many of Bayern's star players getting additional time off after the World Cup – France stars Michael Olise and Dayot Upamecano were among those absent from the squad – Kompany gave some youngsters a chance to impress.

And both Chavez and Assomo caught the eye with pinpoint finishes. They both had four shots each, with no other player on either side having more than three.

Bayern fired off 25 shots, though they were wayward with all but five of those attempts and underperformed their 2.64 expected goals, compared to the hosts' 0.34 xG.

There was one notable moment for the home fans to celebrate, as Aias took Kim out of the game in spectacular fashion before turning provider for Lee's goal.
