Felipe Luis is taking a cautious approach with Fati, as the new Monaco coach aims to gradually bring the forward back to full fitness.

Former Barcelona player Fati joined Monaco for €11 million this summer. On Sunday, he traveled with the team to Anfield for a warm-up match against Liverpool but was not included in Felipe Luis's matchday squad. Pogba was also absent. Fati (23), Pogba (33), and Balogun (25) all appeared at Anfield, but only for conditioning drills and did not participate in the Liverpool vs. Monaco match.
Felipe Luis is being cautious with Fati's usage to protect him from injury. The new Monaco coach wants the forward, who experienced muscle discomfort in early pre-season, to gradually regain peak physical condition. As a result, Fati has not featured in any of Monaco's warm-up matches so far. Felipe Luis confirmed that the former Barcelona player is following a personalized training program.
Monaco's objective is for Fati—who scored 12 goals at Stade Louis II last season (11 in Ligue 1, 1 in the Champions League)—to be ready for the 2026-27 Ligue 1 season opener against Le Havre. He may miss the first leg of the Europa Conference League play-offs.
