Manchester United legend Ferdinand believes Rashford's return to the team is like a "new signing". Rashford has returned to Manchester United after his loan spell at Barcelona and has already joined team training at Carrington.

Ferdinand stated that Rashford can absolutely be considered a "new signing" for Manchester United, and he is excited about the 28-year-old's condition since returning to training.

"Rashford is back at Manchester United's training ground, fellas, and he's looking as slick as a Gianmarco Ferrari (note: referring to a player in excellent form, likened to a perfectly tuned sports car)," Ferdinand said on his YouTube channel "FIVE with Ferdinand."

"He looks fit, ready. And you see, he's got a smile on his face, a spring in his step."

"We don't know what's going to happen, where things are going to go before the transfer window closes. But honestly, I hope he stays, he will be a "new signing" for Manchester United."

"Will this be the motivated Rashford? The one who steps up and proves all the doubters and critics wrong?"

"I hope so. Let's wait and see."

Rashford was not included in the squad for Manchester United's draw with Leeds United in Dublin on Wednesday night. Saturday's friendly against AC Milan will be the last chance for players to get playing time before the Premier League opener against Hull City on August 22.
