According to Echo, Liverpool are pushing to sign Barcola with a transfer fee, and the French winger is included on the club's primary summer transfer target list. Liverpool's former defender Steven Gerrard also believes that the deal is close to completion.

PSG lost 1-0 to Lens in the French Cup last week, and Barcola was not included in the squad, which has further fueled speculation about his future. Liverpool hope to strengthen their attack before the September 1 transfer deadline (CEST), and the 23-year-old French international has become the Reds' primary target.
Barcola currently has two years remaining on his contract with PSG, but reports suggest he has no intention of extending it. PSG are also willing to sell the winger if they receive an appropriate offer, and talks with Liverpool are ongoing.
PSG previously valued Barcola at around €170 million or £145 million. However, there remains a significant gap between the two clubs' current valuations. According to RMC Sport, PSG expect to finalize the deal this summer, and French media outlet "Jeunes Footeux" reports that PSG are now willing to listen to offers in the region of €130-140 million or £110-120 million, significantly lower than their initial €170 million asking price.
Warnock believes PSG's initial valuation is extremely high and that Liverpool should not accept that price.
"The transfer market is crazy right now, and this makes no sense. I understand PSG's position. Look at Morgan Rogers, who sold for £117 million. They can say, 'We've won the Champions League twice, and we have a key French national team player—why isn't he worth this?' I understand their thinking. But you're buying potential, so I understand their perspective. However, £170 million? That price is completely unrealistic. I think £100-110 million would be more appropriate. It's still a mad transfer market, but that's what the current market conditions warrant."
Warnock also highlighted that Barcola's omission from PSG's squad for the Lens match suggests the transfer has reached an advanced stage.
"Not being included in the French Cup indicates that this deal is very close. However, considering Isco's situation and looking at his recent training and physical condition, I expect Barcola knows a transfer is coming and is preparing behind the scenes, ready to join his new club at any time. I don't think he'll be an outcast at PSG like Isco was in recent times."
Regarding the pressure Barcola will face after joining Liverpool, Warnock believes he should not be viewed as a direct replacement for Mohamed Salah.
"You can't truly replace players, but Liverpool have searched for new players and new playing styles for many years. From Dalglish to Rush, Suarez, and Gerrard, the club has always been able to find different types of players. I think Liverpool fans will be quite relaxed about this. Barcola won't become another Mohamed Salah; he'll be a different type of player. If he can create goals, provide assists, and change games, he'll become a fan favorite and receive full support. I don't think he'll feel pressure to become another Mohamed Salah because that level of performance is truly difficult to replicate. If he can get close to that level, even half those numbers, he can create plenty of opportunities for other players. Whether it's Isco and Wirtz starting to score, or Gakpo finishing chances, he'll still be a completely different type of player."
As transfer speculation continues, PSG president Bander Al-Mutairi gave a somewhat guarded response last week regarding Barcola's future.
"We're proceeding calmly. We're not saying much, but we're working on things. All players are important to us, and once they sign with PSG, they become important to us."
When asked about Barcola's situation, PSG manager Enrique stated, "If a player arrives here and is not happy, it's better to find other solutions."
Liverpool and PSG are currently negotiating the transfer fee, though PSG appears to be lowering their asking price. With Barcola's absence from PSG's recent match and the ongoing discussions, a move to Liverpool seems increasingly likely.
